Grade 1 – Joy in Growing Independence
Welcome to 1st Grade at PACT! This is a year of joyful growth, during which students gain confidence in their skills and independence in their learning. Our team is dedicated to creating a warm and engaging classroom where every child is celebrated and supported throughout their learning journey.

Communication
- Building strong relationships with families is important to us!
- Daily binders with a communication sheet are sent home each day so students can share with families what they did that day.
- Weekly newsletters and email updates sharing what we are learning and upcoming events.
- We welcome phone calls, notes, emails, and in-person conversations to discuss questions, concerns, or celebrations!
Joy at Home: Tips for Families
- Read together every night and discuss the story.
- Ask your child what made them smile at school.
- Practice math with games like dice or card addition.
- Create a joyful learning space at home for writing or drawing.

Building on kindergarten phonemic awareness and phonics skills with the goal of increasing reading fluency, comprehension, and use of reading strategies.
