School Board Meeting Recap

August 7, 2025
Two men stand together, one holding an 'Employee of the Month' certificate.

Employee of the Month: Mark Lindeman

The School Board recognized Mark Lindeman as the July 2025 Employee of the Month. As our Building and Grounds Lead, Mark demonstrates outstanding dedication to maintaining and improving the physical environment of our school. His hard work ensures that our facilities are not only clean and functional inside, but also welcoming and well-kept outside. Mark is known for his exceptional work ethic, dependability, and positive attitude. He takes great pride in his work and consistently goes above and beyond to support the success of our school. What truly sets Mark apart is his proactive approach to problem-solving and his commitment to continuous improvement. He regularly seeks ways to enhance maintenance practices, increase efficiency, and ensure our campus remains a safe and attractive place for students, staff, and visitors. We are grateful for Mark’s contributions and proud to honor him with this well-deserved recognition.

Ramsey Leadership Conversation

During the School Board working session, PACT Charter School welcomed Ramsey City Administrator Brian Hagen and Police Chief Brad Bluml for a leadership conversation focused on strengthening partnerships and expanding student opportunities. The discussion explored ways the city and school can collaborate through civic engagement, career exploration, field trips, and classroom visits. Chief Bluml emphasized the police department’s commitment to building positive relationships with students and families by being a friendly, consistent presence at school—reading to elementary students, attending events, and connecting with families. He also highlighted the Ramsey Explorers program, which introduces young adults ages 14 to 21 to careers in law enforcement and community service through hands-on experience and mentorship. The program promotes leadership and character development, aligning with PACT’s mission.

Dr. Flansburg shared his hope that officers would regularly join students for lunch, helping normalize their presence and deepen connections. He also noted that the Ramsey SWAT team used the school building for a training session last summer, increasing their familiarity with the facility. The conversation marked a positive step forward in developing strong, student-centered partnerships between PACT and the City of Ramsey that support safety, engagement, and a shared investment in student success.

E-Learning Days Now Include Grade 6

Beginning in the 2025–2026 school year, PACT Charter School will expand access to E-Learning Days for students in grades 6-12. When school is canceled due to weather or emergencies, students can participate in up to five asynchronous E-Learning Days each year, which count as instructional contact days. Families will be notified at least two hours before the usual start time. On E-Learning Days, students will complete self-guided learning activities posted by teachers on Schoology or Google Classroom.

Expanded Retirement Match Options for Employees

The PACT School Board approved a resolution to expand retirement savings options for employees by allowing them to choose between a 403(b) or 457(b) plan for the district’s employer match. Starting August 7, 2025, all eligible staff can select either of these two tax-advantaged retirement plans and will receive a district match of 1% of their annual salary.

This decision demonstrates the Board and Administration’s commitment to the long-term financial health of all employee groups and recognizes the value of flexible financial planning options. Employees can opt to receive the district match in either a 403(b) or 457(b), but not both, and must indicate their choice following district procedures. The match amount will be reviewed annually during the budgeting process. The Human Resources Department, in partnership with qualified providers, will oversee plan administration and ensure compliance.

Budget and Finance Committee Openings

PACT is seeking a dedicated individual with a background in finance to join our Budget and Finance Committee (BFC). The BFC helps oversee the finances and financial policies of PACT Charter School to ensure high standards of professional accounting are maintained and that financial matters are communicated effectively. The committee also ensures the responsible use of school funds and compliance with the approved budget while providing relevant information and guidance to the PACT School Board. If interested, please contact Superintendent Dr. Flansburg (n.flansburg@pactcharter.org) or Board Chair Mr. Heineman (r.heineman@pactcharter.org).
